About Pathways North
Our mission
Pathways North is on a mission to improve our individual and collective resilience and make mental health resources more accessible and empowering.Â
What fuels us
We are anchored by two tenets:
- Mental health is public health.
- More empowering and engaging public health tools are necessary to address the serious decline in resilience and mental health outcomes in the United States.
These tenets fuel our work as we offer holistic, digital wellbeing education and programs that not only help individuals address symptoms related to chronic stress, anxiety and depression, but that also pave the way for a more calm, connected, and joyful life.Â
What we aim to solve
Many people feel stuck in cycles of chronic stress, self-destructive thinking, and disconnection—longing for deeper fulfillment. Traditional mental health options often come too late, feel limited, or are out of reach, leaving people searching for more accessible and lasting solutions. At Pathways North, we provide evidence-based, practical resources to help folks tap into their authenticity, build resilience, and foster more joy. Our flagship program and podcast, Joy Lab, empowers individuals with the 12 Elements of Joy—a practical framework to break free from chronic stress, cycles of negative thoughts, and feelings of disconnection.
Our goals
We’re on a mission to help folks reduce symptoms of chronic stress, depression, and anxiety by helping folks tap into their authenticity, build resilience, and uncover their joy.Â
For example, at the Joy Lab Program and Podcast, we focus on helping individuals apply the 12 Elements of Joy into their daily life. These Elements go beyond the usual mental health tools to help folks build resilience, deepen their sense of connection and meaning, and create a more joyful and flourishing life. Â
This approach is science-backed and practical. This leaves an opportunity for:
- A mental health podcast that goes beyond marriage and relationships.
- A podcast that blends scientific research with actionable steps.
- Simplifying mental health concepts into daily routines.
- Bridging the gap between therapy and self-help (what to do between sessions with a therapist or psychiatrist).
Our strategy
The need for public mental health and wellbeing resources is vast, with no realistic way to meet the needs with treatment as usual. Effective, yet out of the box approaches are necessary to meet this need. Our work does not aim to replicate or replace standard therapies, instead, it is an upstream and adjunctive approach. Within this scope, we create and deliver digital mental health tools that integrate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), positive psychology, the science of mindfulness, and the wisdom of one’s soul. Additionally, as an alternative to simply helping folks make bad feelings “go away” or fueling efforts by fixing what’s “broken” we help folks by repositioning their attention on cultivating three aspects of mental health that are more empowering and effective:Â
- Joy
- Resilience
- AuthenticityÂ
Our Joy programming is publicly available (Joy Lab Podcast, Joy Lab Program, Simple Joys, and the Joy Lab app). We are beginning our work to build out our Resilience and Authenticity programming. These initiatives will work synergistically, providing folks with multiple mental health resources that aim to boost mental health and create lasting, positive changes in their lives.
