Pathways North Gift Acceptance Policy
I. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to guide Pathways North in the acceptance of gifts, ensuring that all contributions support and align with our mission to improve individual and collective resilience by making mental health resources more accessible and empowering.
Pathways North is on a mission to improve our individual and collective resilience and make mental health resources more accessible and empowering. We offer holistic and strengths-based digital wellbeing education and programs that not only serve to reduce chronic stress, anxiety and depression, but that also pave the way for a more calm, connected, and joyful life.
II. General Policy
Pathways North solicits and accepts gifts that further our mission. We reserve the right to decline any gift that does not align with our objectives or could impose undue obligations or liabilities on the organization.
III. In-Kind Contributions
In-kind contributions are non-cash donations of goods or services. Pathways North accepts in-kind donations that are directly related to our mission and can be utilized effectively within our programs. Examples include, but are not limited to, educational materials, professional services, or equipment that supports our digital wellbeing initiatives.
We will not accept in-kind donations that:
- Do not align with our mission and programs.
- Require resources that are not available to us.
- Pose conflicts with our ethical standards.
- Are inconsistent with our policies or cause reputational harm.
This policy ensures that all accepted gifts contribute positively to our mission and organizational integrity.
IV. Procedures for Reviewing In-Kind Gifts
All proposed in-kind donations will undergo a review process to determine their suitability and we retain the right to decline any gift that we deem unsuitable for any reason. This process includes assessing the relevance to our mission, potential costs, and any associated risks. The Executive Director, in consultation with relevant staff, will make the final decision on accepting or declining such gifts.
V. Gift Acknowledgment
Pathways North will provide written acknowledgment for all accepted gifts, in accordance with IRS regulations.. This acknowledgment will include a description of the gift and a statement regarding any goods or services provided in return.
VI. Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors to ensure its relevance and effectiveness. Any amendments will be communicated to staff and stakeholders promptly.
