Thriving Personally and Professionally: The Importance of Holistic Mental Health Self Care
Description written by MinnHNA:
Please join us as we welcome Henry Emmons, MD and Aimee Prasek, PhD as they give a brief overview of their work with Joy Lab, a podcast and program designed to support mental and emotional well-being in the fullest sense. Joy Lab builds on the science of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Positive Psychology, while offering practical applications of mindfulness and neuroscience. This integration of evidence-based modalities along with deeper ways of knowing helps foster resilience, joy, and authenticity—the cornerstones of true mental health. They will share how this work has impacted their own lives and why they believe it's so important at this time to blend science with soul at a public health scale.
We'll also welcome Tenzin Namdul, PhD to discuss the association between Tibetan Buddhist contemplative practices and cognitive resilience, and its impact on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. This presentation sheds light on the intersection of biological and socio-cultural factors of mental health. This presentation is part of “Lifestyle Assessment and Monastic Alzheimer’s Study” (LAMAS) among Tibetan Monks in South India.Â
